About THE Take Darwin To Church Project
On February 12th, 2017, the world will celebrate International Darwin Day on the 208th birthday of Charles Darwin—and Take Darwin to Church will launch our interactive project that celebrates his values!
We’ve partnered with religious communities across the globe that recognize Darwin’s lasting impact on biology, cosmology, and the scientific process. If you’re part of a curious congregation that views science as a tool for understanding the universe, we invite you to collaborate with us in promoting Darwin’s intellectual bravery, perpetual curiosity and hunger for truth.
“I am not apt to follow blindly the lead of other men. I have steadily endeavored to keep my mind free.” — Charles Darwin, The Origin of Species
About Darwin Day
Darwin Day exists to inspire people throughout the globe to reflect and act on the principles of intellectual bravery, perpetual curiosity, scientific thinking, and hunger for truth as embodied in Charles Darwin. It strives to be a day of celebration, activism, and international cooperation for the advancement of science, education, and human well-being.
A growing number of communities across the globe organize parties, lectures, experiments, forums, and museum exhibits annually on February 12th (Darwin's Birthday) to celebrate. Local and state governments have begun commemorating Darwin Day across the United States, and globally there is an effort to see Darwin Day recognized and observed by the United Nations.
